![]() Medela parts are easily replaceable imo because you have to replace the parts all the time. I remember with the Medela I had a cracked nipple and it made it worse. I was able to pump with cracked/sore nipples and it was so gentle and I was able to heal. The Spectra is a billion times better imo! I LOVE MY PUMP. I have the Spectra S2 now and I used to have the Medela Pump in Style. Is it worth it to get the Medela for all the accessories (also does insurance usually cover the whole kit and kaboodle, or do you still have to purchase the Medela pump separate for insurance and then pay for the accessories, even though most places seem to sell it in a package for about 3-400$)? Or is it easy to find extra bottles and a carrying case for the Spectra set?Īlso, if you have an opinion on which manual pump works well I'd love to hear that as well. I was wondering if anyone had experience with either of these pumps, what did you like/dislike about them, would you recommend one over the other? I've heard of people saying they used some sort of tube adapter to use the Medela accessories with the Spectra pump, maybe so they could use the bottles? My insurance covers all but %10 of an electric pump, so the cost isn't a big issue. I also see that places like Target tend to carry the Medela products, and would therefore be able to be replaced easier. The Freestyle sounds nice as well, and comes with a lot more accessories. ![]() Quieter sound - I plan to pump on my lunch breaks at work once I get down with my 3 months maternity leave and ideally would like it to be quieter, though this isn't a huge deal breaker if I have to get a noisier pump. ![]() Hi all, I'm trying to compare the Spectra S2 and the Medela Freestyle, and I'm leaning towards the Spectra S2 for the following reasons:Ĭlosed system - I've heard of people having issues with the milk backflow damaging the motor of the pump and requiring replacement.
